There are many well-known strategies for getting traffic to come to your website. Many of these online strategies are common sense such as unique content, consistently updated content, appropriate use of keywords and keyword phrases in headlines and article content, and other ideas.

Another way to increase traffic to your site has nothing to do with onsite promotion. Yes, that’s right. It’s possible to increase traffic to your website through offline promotion too. You can include your URL and basic information in any type of offline advertisement. That includes the use of radio, TV, billboards, bumper stickers, brochures, and other written materials.

Also, don’t overlook the value of including your advertisements on clothing. Many successful online marketers have succeeded in promoting their products by including their website name, theme, and URL on t-shirts, hats, sweat shirts, socks, and other apparel.

Another offline promotional strategy includes the use of coffee mugs, beach towels, ‘jump’ drives, stadium blankets, mouse pads, drink ‘huggers’, and other gadgets. These things often promote your website for many days or months before being discarded.  The simpler and easier it is to remember your URL, the better. A catchy or short URL works best with offline advertising.

You could consider offering these ‘give-aways’ to people who visit your website and register with their email address and other information. Explain that they will receive a special gift and include the promotional information. They are likely to have friends in their lives who share similar interests and who will see the URL. Including a cartoon, interesting graphic, or other design makes the gadget or apparel more appealing and attracts more attention.

Think about offline promotion for your website and decide if your product and site could benefit from this type of promotion. Getting the word out through offline strategies may be just what you need to boost your traffic flow
