The information you gave was invaluable. As a subscriber, I always get sick of promotion after promotion. It is nice to see real content and value delivered to your subscribers with their best interest in mind, not just making another sale.

Those new to list building can learn how to not make those mistakes by following examples like yours. I will use your strategies in my online business and hope others will follow in your footsteps.

Providing free valuable information is a wonderful way to get those emails opened and when you do offer an occasional promotion your subscribers will be more than willing to check it out.

When putting other peoples interests first you not only gain a customer, you gain a loyal customer and when you do that, the money will follow. Thanks again for the wonderful comments.

J!

You are one of the reasons we are at the beginning of a golden age for people conducting business on the net.

The insights, tools and resources you and other leading lights make available to us less creative folks has made making a good living on the net a reality.

You're right on when it comes to working hard and especially smart to retain and recycle visitors and customers.

Thanks for all your help!

J.P.,
How ironic, I was thinking about this subject recently and was trying to determine if it would be suitable for my blog.
Well, when I saw your post, it disspelled any qualms I had about using humor on the net.
I always thought it might work, but was unsure, now I am going to use a bit of good humor (no pun intended) on my blog.
Thanks for your insight on this and I appreciate the timely advice.

I loved Squidoo for a long time but never made a lot of money there. I realize it was of my own doing but because of it I moved on to other things. Then I kind of just forgot about it until the last couple of weeks.

I think it's time that I jumped back on the horse and take another run at Squidoo, maybe update all of my lenses and create a few more using the strategies I learn from reading great blogs like this one.

Hey JP,

Good stuff.

The most successful online marketers utilize multiple traffic generation sources and that's why they are successful. It's for those of us who are less successful to follow what the top earners are doing -- (multiple streams of traffic = continuous cash flow).

I particularly like the part about content marketing, as this seem to be one of the most stable method of generating targeted traffic.

While some of the other methods like PPC, or ezine advertising might provide a faster response, to me, content marketing seem to provide the best long term plan for profitability and security.

Thanks for your leadership!

To your ultimate success,

Godfrey

Serena,
there's nothing such as a static rule when it comes to provide content. Squidoo lenses used to work really well, and for this reason, Squidoo got spammed and abused, while Google started to not rank them as high as before.

It gave the whole system a better balance and Squidoo lenses are still effective (especially because a lot of members of the Squidoo networks are checking other Squidoo lenses...). See your lens as a blog with 1 post / page.

You can have a 'static' section to give general information on your niche, some resources... and then a 'dynamic' section that you could update every week or so.
Of course, if you do so, you need ot inform visitors on the top of your lens, that you update it on a weekly basis and that they should bookmark it, or better join your mailing list (a good way to redirect them to your blog, or money site so that they sign up to your list).

Then it also depends on the positioning of your Squidoo lens in your traffic generation arsenal. Is the lens only tactical and mainly used to get indexed and redirect traffic (meaning you don't really care about spending time to update it too often), or is the lens really part of your 'visitor's experience' building, meaning you want your visitors to come and recommend your lens. Your lens will be further used to provide valuable content and redirect part of the traffic.

But once again, this is something to test, and that might depend on the niche you're working on.
