Twittering For Traffic

September 14, 2008 by JP Schoeffel · Leave a Comment

With so many social networking sites, we have a new entrant “Twitter” on the social networking podium. The potential of Twitter is still in its infancy, and Internet marketers are looking forward to use this at its best. Surprisingly, quite a few of them don’t know the potential marketing power of Twitter. Twitter, in itself, is very different in generating traffic, as compared to many social networking websites. So, lets see the ways that we can use Twitter at its best.

1. Don’t be that annoying “long talker”

Twitter doesn’t allow its users to post long messages. Only short texts can be posted on it. So, it becomes essential to employ a diverse approach to realize the work. If you are having a long-term goal in your mind, you will make friends with many as time goes by. On Twitter, you can certainly put up links, but with a lot of controls.

2. Your twits should carry value

If you wish to generate twitter traffic, your twits should have enough value to make the reading appealing to visitors. One suggestion to run ahead of your competitors is to create twits in sync with daily hot news. Certainly, this is going to keep you over the top of the happenings in your own niche. As you become an expert in this, your pals will eagerly wait for you to post your twits. And then now and then you should speak on your website so that these visitors get curious to know more about your website and pay a visit to it.

3. Twitter traffic isn’t magic

Traffic generation from social networking is not a kid’s play. You need to display much patience and endurance. Also, twitter traffic is a little complex in embracing your website. But once it joins hands, it surely gets your reputation high and the traffic just comes complementary.

Increase Your Website Traffic

Only constant efforts and utilizing the best techniques can help traffic to your website grow. Strategies that you use for generating traffic should be well planned and executed. Dedicating about 60% of your business time to plan and execute these strategies is probably a good idea in this day and age, because chances are, your competitors are doing it already.

Business leads come through more site visits. If you want more sales/leads from your website, then building huge traffic to your website is the best solution because it works like a numbers game for the most part – the more people that visit your site, the more chance you have at converting them. Different type of methods such as marketing through online forums and communities, online videos for promotion and posting online contents are the most popular ones to follow.

When you are using any sources for targeting the traffic, make sure they are widely used so as to get you higher revenue as compared to the sources that are less or not targeted. And the most popular targeted sources are the three that I have stated above.

Targeted sources of traffic fetch you more dollars for the same traffic that’s generated as compared to general sources of traffic. An example of general source is an online banner advertisement that has no relation to the market that you are in.

The slogan for a successful business is that never bank on just one traffic-generating source. As you would not have anything to fall back on, if something wrong goes with that source (which is why many webmasters blame Google when their bots stop indexing their web pages… Google is not to be blamed, but the webmaster made a marketing blunder by only relying on a unique and random traffic source. It’s just like putting all your money on a single and volatile stock and then blaming the financial markets…) . In all these scenarios, online content is the most recommended and most reliable in terms of viral traffic generation for a longer time.

Content marketing is a better & free option compared to other paid techniques like pay per click (PPC) and banner ads. If you have time, you can dedicate it to creating online content. You can outsource that for some nominal costs -but, do not forget to try this method out for yourself.

Ten Hot Ways To Get Traffic

September 14, 2008 by JP Schoeffel · Leave a Comment

Okay okay, so this may not be any kind of official list, rather, these are ways that I and many others have used (and still do) in the past to start that initial flow of traffic to a website or blog. I’m sure you’ve heard the phrase “content is king” over a million times, but without traffic to see that content, don’t expect any miracles to happen overnight.

Seriously though, below are ten ways you can start using today to get traffic to your site. Yes, some of them actually take a little work to do it properly, but the payoffs can be huge.  Enjoy.

Top Ten Ways To Drive Traffic:

10. Blog commenting - This is more of a manual labor thing (unless you outsource it), but commenting on blogs and leaving your link can quickly get people to your site. The trick here is volume - the more blogs you comment on and the more frequently - the more traffic you’ll get.

9. PPC - Hey - who said getting that initial traffic would be free? Seriously, if you can’t afford to try out a $50 PPC campaign using Adwords, then you probably aren’t ready for a life in the internet marketing world. PPC is a great ways to get traffic immediately. There is nothing wrong with spending money to make money.

8. Squidoo lens - Since a Squidoo lens probably carries more weight in the search engines than your own website, it’s probably a good idea to get a lens up that focuses on your main targeted keyword as soon as possible.

7. Hubpages.com - Same as above. If you aren’t doing it yet, I bet your competitors are. Don’t get left behind. It’ll take you a few hours max to get a Squidoo and hubpages page up, and could make one heck of a difference.

6. Article submissions - Article marketing still seems to be all the rage, and having taken part in it myself, I can vouch for this rage. It works, plain and simple. But you have to be wiling to put forth the effort it takes to get a decent amount of articles submitted to sites like EzineArticles.com, who don’t accept just anything.

5. Top 10 lists - Or it could be “101 ways to do this…” or “The top 15 action movies of all time”. Anything that has to do with lists, people seem to love - PLUS, these types of articles are social bookmarking magnets. Write a few of these, submit them to Digg, Reddit, etc - and you’ll have traffic in no time.

4. Yahoo Answers - Don’t laugh, as answering questions on Yahoo Answers and leaving your website as a source can drive some pretty amazing traffic to your site. I’m not kidding.

3. Have something amazing - Is your site just plain awesome, or maybe it’s filled with unbelievably good content? If so, then start doing all of the above, and you’ll get people coming back to you with no problem.

2. Press release - This is more of a gamble, but worth doing in most cases. Have a press release writtent, and then go to a site like PRWeb.com and have them submit it. You’ll get into Google News and Yahoo News, and if your release is worthy enough, you never know what kind of main stream media may pick it up.

1. Buy traffic - Warning! Don’t ever fall for those sites that offer you “30,000 visitors for $9.95!” While you’ll probably get the traffic, it will be people that get tricked into going to your site, and trust me, they won’t stay long. As a matter of fact, they’ll probably never come back to your site again. So don’t do it! But, paying for traffic will probably be the fastest way to drive visitors to your site and test its metrics. But don’t buy wholesale traffic, or expired domains traffic. Focus on the following paid traffic source

  • Text link ads
  • Banner ads
  • PPC campaigns
  • CPA campaigns

In a coming article, we will discuss the best traffic source ever… Stay tuned!

If you follow the following tips I am writing, you will soon be making lots of profit using Squidoo, which shall get a lot of traffic to your site.

Many marketers are madly writing like hell, but a few of them who are smart, make use of this opportunity and instantly get traffic to their site.

After following my tips, you will be amazed to see the difference in the profits as well the difference in the traffic you get. You just need to add Squidoo to your marketing tools.

Here’s how to do it:

First sign up at the Squidoo web site, and then fill in the provided blanks in order to make a lens.

Each lens created by you is nothing special but the collection of articles, reviews and posts.

While building a lens your information gets divided into many ‘modules’. You need to ensure that the first module in your lens is a well written introduction which makes use of all the required keywords.

Those marketing keywords will then become your tags on Squidoo. You need to use these tags very well if you want to achieve the best search Engine Ranking. Thus, you should spend the appropriate amount of time when you are choosing keywords and optimizing the Squidoo lens.

You also should add banners, images, affiliate links and videos in your Squidoo lens. This is done to help the readers know more about the niche or the subject of the product you are promoting. Ensure that all your pictures, banners, etc. are clickable and are linked to the affiliate link. You may also put up many sources of information, having relevant information about the lens. Do not forget to include quality descriptions for each of the link on your lens.

Your submitted articles can be then linked to the article directories. They can also be linked to other people’s web sites, if they are of relevant topic. You can also link multiple Squidoo lenses together to get more traffic, once you have made enough lenses.

You must continue adding new content to the Squidoo lenses you have created. This is to ensure that the lenses keep getting the traffic and have good content. If you do this, Google will direct people to your lens more than often, and shall help you to maintain the traffic on your lens and hence help increase your ranking. You can add new content to your lens by creating multiple modules, each for different types of information.

In the end, you should not forget to make a bio for the lenses you have created. This can be done easily. You just need to add a picture or two of yourself and also provide links which return people to your sites.

If all of the above steps are followed, then you may have your lens among the top lenses on Squidoo. Just imagine how advantageous that could be in getting loads and loads of traffic!!!

Press Releases For Extra Traffic

September 13, 2008 by JP Schoeffel · Leave a Comment

Press releases are one of the most important tools for business these days. Not only they are being used by governmental agencies, but also by NPO’s (non profit organizations), social activist groups and many other companies all over the world.

Press releases can be added to your personal web sites or other pages or blogs very easily. They can also be posted in forums or discussion threads to initiate a discussion on the subject.

However, a press release should be made on subjects which possess some value, and not just here and there gossips. It can be made on products, news, change or promotion, and other important stuff. No matter on what topic you make a press release, you should ensure that it is interesting, well written of course and should be able to target the audience, and interest them.

The main purpose of press release is to get traffic to your web pages. It can also be made for publicizing your products or services.

Some people release press releases to the press. Press releases should be sent to the right newspaper or magazine reporters, in order to make it effective. They can also be sent to editor’s bloggers or any other writers, who post them where it can be viewed by a large audience.

Hence contacting editors from your country, who write for local newspapers or magazine may prove beneficial. If you are doing a press release yourself, you must make sure that you submit it to various people who cover the news. Otherwise it will be no different from regular posts on the forums on the net.

Press release can also be submitted to TV news outlet, or media, and can help greatly in publicizing the web site, or the product of your client. New gadgets and released software are mainly publicized in this manner.

The press release can be recorded and taped and publicized by uploading it on to popular video web sites like You-tube or Meta-cafe.

Thus, your budget as well your creative ideas decide the success and the publicity of the product, on which the press release is made.

These were just some of the important things that should be kept in mind while making press releases, traffic and publicity being the most important of them all.
